X-rays (radiographs)
Dental X-rays (radiographs) are images of the teeth that the dentist uses to evaluate the patient's oral health. These X-rays are used with low levels of radiation to capture images of the interior of the teeth and gums. This can help the dentist to identify problems, like cavities, tooth decay, and impacted teeth.

Visual Dentist can interface with a variety of X-ray software, including the following:
  • Sidexis
  • Digirex
  • Apteryx
  • VixWin
  • MyRay
  • DBSWin
  • Kodak
  • Digora
  • Sopro
  • EasyDent4
  • NNT

It is imperative that the Dental Office Management Software interfaces with the X-ray sofware, because if it does not, that would mean that the dentist would have to maintain a separate patient database, in addition to the database maintained by Visual Dentist. In the absence of communication, the dentist will be forced to enter the patien names again in the X-ray software. Apart from the extra work that will be required in entering the patient name and details, it is inevitable that mistakes will be made when entering data.

Visual Dentist does not interfere with the X-ray software in any way. As an example, when Visual Dentist invokes the X-ray software, if the patient does not exist in the X-ray database, it is automatically created in the X-ray database and the X-ray software is opened. Once the X-ray software is open, then the Visual Dentist is not involved in any way and this is the way it should be. If the patient was created before in the X-ray database by Visual Dentist, when the X-ray software is invoked by Visual Dentist, then the X-ray software will open autimatically at the selected patient.
